PBS Learning Media: Marketing

WGBH Education is focused on creating media-rich digital learning resources based on WGBH productions such as NOVA, American Experience, Frontline, and Peep.  The digital learning resources are available on and marketed through PBS LearningMedia (, a joint project of WGBH and PBS. PBS LearningMedia is a free online service that makes the best of public media digital content and resources available for teachers to engage today's students (PreK-16) in learning. Registration is free to educators everywhere.

Internship Description:
The intern will work on a variety of marketing, market research, and promotion efforts for WGBH Education and PBS LearningMedia.

Under the direction of the marketing manager the intern will play a key role in the department's marketing efforts, particularly in social media communications and surveying research in education and educational technology. The intern will assist in the launch of new WGBH Education-branded web and Facebook pages. The intern will also assist the marketing team in reaching out to educators through email and other online communications.

Projects and tasks may include:

  • Research and use social media as a platform to deliver WGBH Education and PBS LearningMedia content
  • Collaborate on development of editorial calendar for social media channels and email marketing
  • Research, summarize, and analyze current trends in education and educational technology
  • Develop process for flagging key research and delivering it to department members for use in development projects
  • Increase department’s use of Pinterest for educators, and research/recommend new or currently under-utilized social media channel for department
  • Identify bloggers and publications who might be interested in sharing WGBH Education and PBS LearningMedia content with their communities
  • Contact bloggers and publications to advise them of appropriate content


Skills Preferred :

  • Interest in education and educational technology preferred.
  • Enthusiastic and experienced user of online social networking platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)
  • Proficiency in online research
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of editorial judgment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail 


  • Experience with launching new marketing tools to a state-wide audience.
  • Experience implementing marketing campaigns for national products
  • Work with a major, national digital online learning resource
  • Experience in developing integrated marketing campaign.

15-20 hours per week commitment (Hours are flexible to work around a school schedule)
