Radio: News State House

WGBH Radio 89.7FM broadcasts local, national, and international news and talk shows all day from 5AM to 8PM. The WGBH News team covers and produces local and national news including in-depth feature stories and interviews, covering a wide range of topics.
Internship Description
  • Provide writing and research for the State House correspondent and assist in delivering content for, and WGBH's Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
  • Look for news stories, assist in radio news production and write stories for the web
  • Duties may also include researching specific news topics, the results of which will be used in news content or for interviews.
  • Additional duties may include attending press conferences, recording sound in the field, making outcalls to newsmakers to arrange interviews, taking and processing photos, and helping to edit video.
Skills Preferred
  • Must be skilled in Windows –based software, web browsers including Google Chrome
  • Must be able to write clear, accurate news copy according to AP style on deadline
  • Familiarity with audio recording equipment and editing software is desired
  • familiarity with state and local government and a passion for public policy and politics
  • Knowledge of the legislative process is a plus
