NOVA: Next Digital Editorial

About NOVA:
NOVA is the most-watched prime time science series on American television, reaching an average of five million viewers weekly. Now in its fourth decade of production, the series remains committed to producing in-depth science programming in the form of one-hour documentaries and long-form mini-series, from the latest breakthroughs in technology to the deepest mysteries of the natural world. NOVA is produced by WGBH Boston and airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on most PBS stations. 
 
NOVA Next Digital Editorial Internship Description:
Interns research, report, and write short posts as well as longer features for NOVA Next, NOVA's platform for in-depth science reporting. They also help staff with social media projects and smaller editorial tasks and are expected to pitch ideas (for print, multimedia, social media, etc.) on a regular basis. Lastly, interns can expect to accomplish a handful of projects by the end of the semester, receiving an immersive experience in online science journalism.
 
Qualifications:
All candidates must be an enrolled student. Due to WGBH policies, the internship is unpaid. However, we are committed to offering our interns worthwhile, fulfilling learning experiences and opportunities to become immersed in the promotion of an award-winning, widely recognized media brand.  
 
Skills Preferred:
 
Strong writing skills
Enthusiasm for science
Keen interest in web-based media
Interest in social media
Interest in science, journalism, and communications
Women and people of color are encouraged to apply
 
 
Time Commitment:
Internship hours are 15-20 hours/week. Hours are flexible, but some degree of consistency in scheduling is required.
 
Availability:
We offer fall semester internships (Sept-Jan), spring semester internships (Jan-May), and summer internships (May/June - Aug/Sept).
