NOVA: Marketing & Outreach

About NOVA:

 NOVA is the most-watched prime time science series on American television, reaching an average of five million viewers weekly. Now in its fourth decade of production, the series remains committed to producing in-depth science programming in the form of one-hour documentaries and long-form mini-series, from the latest breakthroughs in technology to the deepest mysteries of the natural world. NOVA is produced by WGBH Boston and airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on most PBS stations. 

 

NOVA Marketing & Outreach Internship Description:

Interns will work closely with the NOVA Education & Outreach team to support promotional activities related to special upcoming NOVA broadcasts: Black Hole Apocalypse, The Weather Machine (w.t.), and NOVA Wonders. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): aiding in social media campaigns, event planning and execution, selection and creation of promotional assets (images, footage, marketing collateral), and cross-promotion with external organizations. Candidates must be enthusiastic and passionate about science communication. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong science background.

 

Qualifications:

All candidates must be an enrolled student. Due to WGBH policies, the internship is unpaid. However, we are committed to offering our interns worthwhile, fulfilling learning experiences and opportunities to become immersed in the promotion of an award-winning, widely recognized media brand.  

 

Skills Preferred:

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Organized and detail oriented

·       Self-motivation

·       Must be comfortable using social networking and live broadcasting platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Google+)

·       Interest in science communication, journalism, and online marketing

·       Experience with creative tools like Photoshop is recommended

 

Time Commitment:

In order for our marketing and communication interns to have a meaningful experience, we require at least a 16-hour/week commitment. Full days are not necessary, but a consistent schedule is preferred.

 

Availability:

This internship will only be offered for Spring 2018 and Summer 2018.
