Membership Marketing and Finance Co-op

 WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community. We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.

Our department, Membership Marketing and Development enables the WGBH Foundation to carry out its public media mission by raising annual contributions from individuals for TV, Radio, and Web program support. This includes serving as the marketing service bureau WGBH, WGBY-Springfield, WCAI-Woods Hole as well as other external PBS and NPR stations. Through database marketing, member engagement, relationship building, and traditional and digital-based fundraising, the Membership Marketing and Development team provides WGBH and the above stations with the economic resources to pursue its mission.

Then this exciting opportunity to observe business and nonprofit management in the midst of our dynamic membership marketing team is for you!

This co-op will provide you with access to all levels of management and decision making for one of the biggest departments at WGBH.  You will work hand-in-hand with the decision makers on the team and will see first hand how strategy turns into action.

Your role will support the administrative and marketing functions of the Membership Marketing and Development team that includes direct mail, web/email, on-air fundraising, events and auction.  You will have exposure to database marketing, direct mail marketing, procurement, accounts payable, human resources, payroll, legal, etc.  Assist with report completion, distribution and analysis, creation of PowerPoint presentations, payroll reporting, data research, marketing support, and other responsibilities.

Skills —

  • Superbly organized and able to manage multiple projects, tasks, and shifting priorities
  • Excellent communication skills — written, oral and listening
  • High level proficiency in MS Office
  • Knowledge of financial concepts (cash flow, budgeting, etc.)
  • Ability to understand work environment, interpersonal dynamics, and the context of decision-making on a variety of levels
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and apply to daily tasks
  • Past office experience preferred
