World Channel

WORLD Channel is a 24/7, full service multicast channel featuring public television’s signature nonfiction documentary, science, and news programming complemented by original content from emerging producers. The channel provides viewers with independent voices telling personal stories from around the globe. This sharing of stories, complemented by digital content on the channel’s companion website and social media sits, provide active engagement with content featuring global communities, scientific advances, revelations in history, lives of the great and the unsung, and perspective on today’s headlines and critical issues around the world.

Internship Description:
WORLD’s goal is to expand the definition of public media, one that targets a younger and more diverse demographic, and invites participation by a broad array of voices and creators often underserved by traditional media. The intern may assist in a variety of efforts, including but not limited to, supporting the Channel’s broadcast and digital presence. Under the direction of the WORLD team, the intern may:
  • Screen film submissions for programming
  • Assist in producing efforts for original series, digital content, and outreach events
  • Write posts and create tool kits for digital content, to include our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram) and monthly/weekly newsletters.
  • Assist post-production manager in captioning and media management
  • Assisting on set when in production
  • Assisting in light admin work as needed
Skills Preferred:
  • Strong interest in Non-Fiction/Documentary storytelling
  • Fluency of social networking sites
  • An understanding of: HTML, Wordpress, or equivalent
  • Strong writing skills
  • Attention to detail, self-motivated, and willing to wear many hats
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere & Photoshop especially) a plus
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students are both welcome to apply
