Digital Producer

Department Overview: 

The Digital Content team within the Digital department creates and owns original content, and collaborates with local and national teams at WGBH to maximize online engagement and member opportunities. The team drives technology and strategy, and specializes in relationship building to ensure that the Foundation is fully leveraging digital resources including membership support, content, marketing and social media, and content management systems (CMS).

The team is comprised of experienced, creative, digital savvy, design and development professionals with a strong understanding of media, production, and marketing.


Position Overview:

The Digital department is seeking a Digital Producer Intern to join the Digital Content team. This is a great opportunity for a student seeking a career in film/video, web content production, and/or digital marketing. 

The Intern will assist on several projects and tasks to gain a variety of experiences within the digital space. S/he will work closely with producers, and digital marketers on tasks including writing and editing lifestyle articles, media management, and repurposing existing media archives and A/V content into new and engaging marketing materials for social media platforms.

Hours are flexible, with a minimum of twenty hours a week. This is a summer internship, available starting in June and end date/holiday schedule is flexible. This position will report into the team’s Senior Producer and will work in WGBH’s Boston, MA office at One Guest St.


Position Tasks: 

  • Camera operating for team productions including Front Row Boston and Front Row Boston: Live at Fraser
  • Production tasks including: A/V editing, media management, the handling of contracts, and A/V rights management.
  • Repurposing existing media archives and A/V content into new and engaging marketing materials for social media platforms.
  • Writing lifestyle content — specifically food and music — for and its lifestyle properties.


This is a 20-hour a week unpaid internship. College credit only.


Skills Required:

  • Experience with Content Management Systems and web publishing.
  • An interest in web design, HTML, and content creation.
  • Spelling, grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Videography experience (or interest) and a general understanding of the content production cycle.
  • Content editing skills; an understanding of narrative structure, pacing, graphics, music, shot selection, and all key aspects of A/V content.
  • Experience or interest in using audio, photo, and video software products including Adobe Premiere, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge and affection for using social media, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Solid organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.


Educational Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program that offers college credit for internships.
