Art Of The Americas: This Saturday, the Museum of Fine Art’s brand new Art of the Americas wing opens to the public with a free community day. This bold expansion and renovation adds more than 100,000 square feet of space and 50 new galleries to the iconic early 20th century neo-classical building on Huntington Avenue. It also signals a new era for one of the country’s most renowned museums. The MFA’s astounding collection of American Art—from pre-Columbian artifacts to John Singer Sargent portraits to abstract masterpieces by Jackson Pollack–has been re-imagined and brought together. WGBH’s Jared Bowen has toured the galleries and joins us with a sneak preview.
