In Brown's Wake

More than half a century after Brown v. Board of Education, the importance of the Supreme Court ruling can't be understated. And yet increasing segregation in schools and inequities in the quality of education for many students of color leave us questioning whether we the ultimate result of Brown will be, or was ever intended to be, integration. In her new book, "In Brown's Wake," the Dean of Harvard Law School, Martha Minow examines the reverberations of the landmark case in American schools beyond questions of race. She argues that the decision inspired movements in schools from disability rights to immigrant rights. Underlying it all, educators and policy makers grapple with whether equal education always amounts to all-inclusive classrooms.
