Any time we find ourselves in the medical system- our care managed by a multitude of doctors- chances are they’re not communicating with one another. The consequences can be costly, and at times, deadly. Costly because we can be subjected to too many diagnostic tests and procedures, and deadly because certain treatments and medications could conflict with one another. We looked at why our medical system is encouraging this communication gap, and current systems in place that are bucking this trend. Dr. Madeleine Biondolillo, Corporate Medical Director at Radius Management Service, and Dr. Tara Lagu, a Physician Researcher in the Center for Quality Care Research at Baystate Medical Center and an Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine joined us.
