Princeton professor Jeff Nunokawa started writing notes on Facebook on a lark. A way to vent. The early attempts, starting way back in 2005, were a way to talk about what was going on in his life; to write in a forum where knowing eyes would pass over his musings. Now, many years and sleepless nights later, his Facebook notes have turned into daily observances, little pieces of thought, crystallized, fussed over and annotated, updated fastidiously, read by a wide audience on Facebook and beyond, and bolstered with literary passages, movie quotes, and photos from his life.
It's confessional in only the way Facebook and social networking could be -- but it's also high-minded, thought-provoking, sometimes a little confusing or obscure. It's become known as "Jeffbook."
We'll be joined by Jeff Nunokawa, professor of English at Princeton University, where he specializes in nineteenth century British literature. Since 2005, he's been writing daily essays on Facebook -- and the notes are meditations on literature, life, and philosophy. Read a "Jeffbook" excerpt here.
