9/11 at the Movies
Today we continue our 9/11 conversation with a look at how the terrorist attacks on the twin towers have been assimilated into American cinema. In the immediate aftermath the tragedy left us too raw; the event was too enormous to comprehend and capture on film. Fast-forward to today and films incorporate 9/11 as a plot point, as a way to explain a death or someone’s economic misfortune. In between these two extremes we’ve had documentaries take on the government. We’ve had dramas deal with the wear and tear of two wars. This hour, with film critic Garen Daly leading the way, we’ll look at 9/11 through the lens of tinsel town.
