Jessica Zhou and NEC First Mondays Play Debussy

Debussy wrote the Danses sacrée et profane as a commission for a new kind of harp – the chromatic harp. Though we don’t see this instrument too much these days (it’s tricky to play), this piece has become a staple of the chamber ensemble repertoire. Hear BSO Principal Harpist Jessica Zhou with violinists Masuko Ushioda and Amy Galluzzo, violist DJ Cheek, cellist Mickey Katz, and bassist DaeHee Choo in a stunning rendition of the Danses on this week’s podcast.
