Robert Schumann was not happy with his first Violin Sonata, composed in September of 1851, so he sat down and wrote another one, and finished it in October. But he must have had misgivings about this second one as well, because it wasn't published until two years later! This is some of Robert Schumann's most compelling music. We hear it played by Haldan Martinson, with Sally Pinkas at the piano.
