For fifteen months between 2007-2008, Sebastian Junger was embedded in a US army platoon based in Afghanistan’s remote Korengal Valley. His goal was to convey what soldiers experience day in, day out – what war is really like. In early April, Junger’s dear friend and his Restrepo collaborator, British filmmaker and photographer Tim Hetherington, was tragically killed in Misrata, Libya. We reached out to Sebastian Junger shortly after Tim Hetherington’s death and made arrangements for him to join us here in the studio.
