For Open Studio with Jared Bowen, WGBH’s Arts Editor met with Steve Martin, well known as a comic, but not so much as an art curator.

Americans are getting to know Canadian painter Lawren Harris’ radiant, lonesome landscapes in a traveling exhibition of the artist’s major works, curated by collector, actor, writer, and musician Steve Martin. Harris (1885–1970) was a pioneering modernist whose visionary paintings have virtually defined 20th-century Canadian art. His scenes of an evocative northland, isolated peaks, and vast expanses of shimmering water are considered essential images of the country.  The Idea Of North: The Paintings Of Lawren Harris is on view at the MFA through June 12.

See Jared’s interview with Steve Martin on Open Studio tomorrow night at 11pm on WGBH 2. More airings
