Turkey Takeover

Some feisty feathered friends managed to flee today's feasts and are befowling our mural! Why did the turkeys cross the road? Well, to take over our towns, evidently: there has been a resurgence of the bossy birds in the Boston area, in part because people feed them. Wild turkeys are aggressive, asserting their dominance over any creature perceived to be low on the pecking order—humans included. They will also mistake their reflections for an intruder, so hubcaps, windows and rearview mirrors have been tapped as targets of territorial tugs-of-war. While officials figure out how to deal with such fowl play, some recommend the best way to avoid a turkey attack is to make loud noises or spray them with water from a hose. While we are thankful for the region's wildlife, we don't want to encourage their bad behavior!
