Basic Black: Breast Cancer and Women of Color

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  According to a report from the American Cancer Society, “Cancer Facts & Figures for African Americans 2016-2018,” breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among black women, and an estimated 30,700 new cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2016.  The diagnosis for African American women is often later and the disease is much more advanced and deadly.
