Restricted Liquor Licenses: The Restaurant Jump-Start In Your Neighborhood

If you’re looking for a dining destination, Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan may not be one of your top choices. For nearly a century there was a law that prevented restaurants in these neighborhoods from serving the one item that is key to restaurant success: alcohol. Restaurants make main streets more vibrant, and a vibrant main street is key to a strong economy.

Now, 75 restricted liquor licenses will available to restaurants in these neighborhoods. What does this mean for the small business owner? How will it affect the local economy?
