BOSTON — The Massachusetts secretary of state's office says population numbers it released for cities and towns were miscalculated.
Secretary of State William Galvin met with reporters earlier Tuesday to announce the figures from the latest U.S. Census, figures that will help to drive the congressional and legislative redistricting process.
Galvin initially said Boston had lost population, but a spokesman says Boston actually gained and Springfield did not fall below 150,000 in population as earlier reported.
The corrected figures will be released later Tuesday.
