BOSTON — In a 1980 debate, Ronald Reagan asked a pointed question: Are you better off today than you were four years ago? Over 30 years later, the question still resonates — especially with an economic downturn that grinds on and on.
An upcoming report from our partner MassINC has some disturbing indicators for the Bay State:
- 1 in 4 residents are unemployed or underemployed or have given up looking for work.
- 143,000 jobs were lost in the state in the last decade.
- 17% of residents think the next generation will be better off.
