This Old House producers are searching for professional kitchen and bath designers to add to the show's talented roster of on-air experts next season. Women and men living in the New England area who are skilled in this field are encouraged to submit themselves for consideration.
The production team is also looking for a historic home in the Greater Boston area to renovate during the 2011-2012 television season.
Though the kitchen and bath designers won't be full-time members of the cast, they will appear from time to time as contributing experts when the next renovation project calls for their specific skills. Host Kevin O'Connor, Master Carpenter Norm Abram, General Contractor Tom Silva, Plumbing and Heating Expert Richard Trethewey and Landscape Contractor Roger Cook will continue to serve as the show's core crew of on-air experts for the entire renovation project.
This Old House is reviewing applications now.
To be considered, submit the following:
- Detailed bio including your education, experience, credentials and notes on what sets you apart from others in the field;
- Three to five recent photos of yourself (must be from the past six to 12 months);
- Descriptions and photos of three to five of your recent residential projects which highlight the kind of work you do;
- Brief five-to-10 minute video in a QuickTime file (also known as .MOV file) on DVD. The content of the video should be divided into two sections:
- Casual and engaging self introduction including, but not limited to, the following information: your name, where you are from, your kitchen and bath design/build experience, what you love about your work, the unique challenges/rewards you've encountered;
-
Interaction with either a client or tradesperson discussing design/layout and/or active construction (such as tile work, cabinetry installation, etc.). The goal is to see you interacting and engaging with others, not “acting” but teaching and sharing your knowledge.
