St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, From Carnegie Hall

Comments

In 2007 soprano Dawn Upshaw began an artistic partnership with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and she immediately approached jazz composer Maria Schneider about a collaboration.  The result was Carlos Drummond de Andrade Stories, drawing texts from the Brazilian poet.

Now the SPCO, Upshaw, and Schneider bring the piece to the Spring for Music festival from Carnegie Hall on a program that includes music by Stravinsky, Bartók, and Haydn.  The program is below, and for complete program notes, visit Spring for Music.
