FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Massachusetts officials and residents are still working to confront and assess the damage left behind by this weekend's Tropical Storm Irene. During a tour of the damage, Gov. Deval Patrick said some of the worst flooding from the storm happened in Western Massachusetts, where raging waters washed away homes, roads and even a bridge.
He says its too early to put a price tag on the damage, but 15 damage assessment teams are fanned out across the state.
Patrick confirmed one storm related death in Southbridge. A public works employee was electrocuted by fallen power lines while leaving his home.
The Governor says downed power lines and trees and flooded roads continue to make many areas dangerous and is urging residents to continue to exercise caution.
Meanwhile, utility companies are working to restore electricity to hundres of thousands of households.
