On Saturday evening, May 3, WGBH partnered with Boston Swing Central to host 200 dancers of all skill levels in our own Yawkey Atrium.
The sold-out event began with an hour-long beginner dance lesson, taught by Megg and Clayton Jones, two amazing instructors from Boston Swing Central, based in Charlestown, MA. More seasoned dancers arrived fashionably late for social dancing, a series of dance demonstrations, and even a Charleston competition. WGBH New’s own Curiosity Desk reporter Edgar B. Herwick III was the emcee for the evening, keeping the crowd energized. Brooklyn, NY based Baby Soda Jazz Band performed their classic swing tunes live for the guests all night long. The video you are viewing features Edgar and the Charleston contest winners dancing with other event attendees in a dance jam session.
