One of Brooklyn's funkiest live bands recently took to the West Coast to visit KCRW and perform live on Morning Becomes Eclectic. Watch the Menahan Street Band perform its trademark tune, "Make the Road By Walking," which you may recognize from Jay-Z's "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is)..."

Even if you've never heard of the Menahan Street Band, you've almost definitely heard its songs: The instrumental sextet has had its funk and soul grooves sampled by some of hip-hop's biggest names, including Jay-Z, Kid Cudi and 50 Cent. Acting as the backbone of the Daptone record label, this extremely talented band has long been essential listening at KCRW.

Watch Menahan Street Band perform "Make the Road By Walking" — which Jay-Z lifted for the production of "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is)..." — and then catch the rest of the session at KCRW.com.
