The co-founder of The Velvet Underground recently visited KEXP in Seattle to play songs from his new solo album, Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood. Watch Cale perform the record's first single, "I Wanna Talk 2 U."

Velvet Underground co-founder John Cale refuses to be boxed in or limited by his previous successes. His solo catalog ranges from the icy elegance of Music for a New Society to the abrasive Sabotage/Live to his latest opus, the woozy, hip-hop-inflected Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood. On top of that, he's collaborated with everybody from minimalist composers La Monte Young and Terry Riley to LCD Soundsystem, and produced works by the likes of Patti Smith, The Stooges, Nico, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Watch Cale perform Nookie Wood's lead single, "I Wanna Talk 2 U," then check out the rest of his session on the KEXP blog.
