The West Virginia favorite brings a few of her own songs to this live concert in her home state.
Belinda Smith makes her first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College. A hometown favorite, Smith is a graduate of Wesleyan and a West Virginia native who relocated to Nashville in 1997 to pursue a career as a session singer and songwriter.
While in Nashville, she's found much success, winning a Dove award, seeing her songs covered by Grammy-nominated recording artists, and earning some of the industry's most prestigious publishing honors. She also maintains her own successful business, Belinda Smith Creative, which provides mentoring for other up-and-coming songwriters. Playing both on her own at the piano and backed by the Mountain Stage band, her segment includes "What You See Ain't Always What You Get," a song not heard in the radio broadcast.
This Mountain Stage performance was originally published on May 18, 2012.
