We want to know what the American Dream means to you, whether it's barbecues with the neighbors, volunteering, or enjoying your garden, your business or your place of worship.
For many, the phrase "American Dream" conjures up images of a house, a car, a picket fence and 2.5 children.
But that's not everyone's American Dream. We want to know what it means to you, whether it's barbecues with the neighbors, volunteering, or enjoying your garden, your business or your place of worship.
So surprise us, in words or in pictures — or both. Send us a photo with an explanatory caption of 140 characters or fewer. If you'd rather not snap a picture, send us your idea of the American Dream — again, in 140 characters or fewer. We will use some of your submissions in an interactive graphic.
You can send your submissions to us via email (dreams@npr.org), Instagram (tag your photo #nprdreams), Flickr (tag your photo #nprdreams) or Tumblr (tag your submission #nprdreams).
Include your name, the name of the person who took the picture, and the location of the photo (full address or street intersection, including city and state). And remember that character limit! Send us 140 characters or fewer (not including your name and address details).
Remember, We're A Family-Friendly Website. This probably goes without saying, but please keep your submissions G-rated.
Sorry, No Videos Or Animated GIFs. But that doesn't mean you can't get creative.
There is no deadline, though if we get an avalanche of submissions, we may have to call "uncle" at some point.
[NOTICE TO USERS: NPR reserves the right to read on the air and/or publish on its Web site or in any medium now known or unknown the emails and photographs that we receive. We may edit them for clarity, brevity or format and identify authors by name and location. By sending us a photograph or email, you agree to these terms. For additional information, please consult our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.]
