The Trishas On Mountain Stage

These women, none of whom are named Trisha, all sing and write their own roots music. Formed just three years ago, they've toured with such Americana icons as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Ray Wylie Hubbard. They say their latest album High, Wide & Handsome is about Mountain Stage host Larry Groce.

Roots music band The Trishas make their first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live at West Virginia University in Morgantown. Although none of the women in The Trishas are actually named Trisha, each of them sings, plays and writes her own music. Founded by Jamie Wilson, Liz Foster, Kelley Mickwee and Savannah Welch, after only three years of playing together, the group has recorded and toured with a who's who of Americana icons, including the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Todd Snider, Raul Malo and Ray Wylie Hubbard.

They appear here with fellow Trisha and co-writer Brandy Zdan, on lead guitar and lap steel. The band gets a tremendous laugh from the audience when they declare that their latest album High, Wide & Handsome is about Mountain Stage host Larry Groce. This set includes the song "Gold and Silver," which was not heard during the radio broadcast.
