The vastness and variety of Obama paraphernalia seemed to start with an image called "HOPE." It features the face of the senator rendered in red, white and blue. Farai Chideya speaks with Shepard Fairey, the Los Angeles-based artist who created the iconic image.

During this election year, the vastness and variety of Obama paraphernalia has generated a cottage industry and an arts movement.

It's also helped to turn Barack Obama's image into an icon. It all seemed to start with an image called "HOPE," featuring the face of Sen. Obama rendered in red, white and blue.

Farai Chideya speaks with Shepard Fairey, the Los Angeles-based artist who created the iconic image.
