With 16 vendors, nine performing acts, and nearly 4,000 friends of WGBH in attendance, this year’s Ice Cream FunFest: A Day of Ice Cream and Music was a success. Guests filled up the space next to WGBH's Brighton studios on a beautiful Saturday to enjoy great ice cream, tasty food, entertaining performances, and of course, fun.

Kids of all ages enjoyed activities like face painting, moon bounces, carnival games, temporary tattoos, and coloring while PBS characters including Curious George, Word Girl, Clifford, and friends greeted and posed with families for pictures.

Vendors from all over New England lined the outskirts of the lot, and handed out delectable samples for everyone to enjoy. As guests made their way towards the back of the venue, many gathered near the stage for interactive performances from each of this year’s acts.

The Inaugural Boston Summer Arts Walk

In July, hundreds of guests visited 11 galleries along Newbury Street to participate in the first annual Boston Summer Arts Walk, part of the Boston Summer Arts Weekend. Each participating gallery displayed selections from its permanent collection plus a handful of works from the WGBH Fine Art Auction.

Guests saw a wide variety of art, including classical paintings, modern sculpture, and jewelry. They had the opportunity to bid on their favorites from each gallery. Treated to complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, guests chatted with each other, the gallery owners, artists, and WGBH volunteers. The positive artistic energy overflowed on to the Newbury Street sidewalk, where everyone enjoyed live painting demonstrations and musical performances. It was a great night and a wonderful way to begin what we hope will become a summertime tradition in Boston.

WGBH Craft Beer Festival

There is nothing like all you can drink beer, let alone craft beer. With sixteen craft  breweries from all over the New England (with a few surprise guests!), two renowned Boston-based food trucks, and great performances from some killer bands, the first annual WGBH Craft Beer Festival got off to a fantastic start.

Craft breweries introduced over 800 Bostonians to the finer side of beer by serving over 50 different varieties of beer made from the finest ingredients. Guests were also able to converse with brewery representatives who offered a wide array of knowledge on their selection of brews. Guests were not only educated on the beer they were drinking, but were also able observe beer being brewed on site by ‘GBH’s friends at the Homebrew Emporium.
