Cathy Fuller welcomes Boston Camerata, presenting selections from "The Maria Monologues," an exploration of the "eternal feminine” in the Middle Ages. This collection of songs and poems centers around two women named Mary in the Bible: Mary Magdalene and Mary the Mother. These pieces are performed by three women singers: Deborah Rentz-Moore, Lydia Brotherton, and Boston Camerata's artistic director, Anne Azema (shown).

Classical Music with Cathy Fuller | Sibelius's Symphony No. 2

Each Friday in March, host Cathy Fuller broadcasts the first four symphonies by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, recorded in concert with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra under conductor Petri Sakari. On Friday, March 12, Cathy features Sibelius's Symphony No. 2 in D minor, op. 43.

First Ladies of Music | Greek Divas

Pianist Virigina Eskin (shown) takes us on a musical tour through history, from ancient times to today, to unveil some hidden treasures from women composers. This episode focuses on the extraordinary career of Greek diva Maria Callas, as well as Agnes Baltsa and Australian Dame Nellie Melba. We hear Callas with students, teaching a master class at the Juilliard School in New York City, and in an interview.

Classical Profiles | Riccardo Chailly


Cathy Fuller spoke with Riccardo Chailly, the Italian conductor who leads the venerable Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.  Known for exuberance on the podium and thoughful interpretations, Chailly talks about his background, the special qualities of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, and his unorthodox approach to Beethoven.
